Last month, Mommy and Daddy were given a homework assignment. They were given a patch to decorate that told a little something about me! Then my teachers were going to put them all together and make a quilt!
For a while now, Special Agent Oso has been my favorite show! It makes Mommy and Daddy think of me in so many ways....

So, when it came time to decorating, it make perfect sense to make me Special Agent Eric!

When I started daycare, I was 3 months old. Each and every day, Mommy and Daddy would come visit me during their lunch hour. This was very important to them. They felt it necessary for me to spend time with them to break up my day. Not to mention, I don't think my Mommy would have survived if she didn't come see me!
For five straight months, the three of us had wonderful lunch dates together. We would go for walks, read books, build blocks, and laugh. Then, the day came. The day Mommy and Daddy knew was going to come, but hoped it never would. In July (I was 8 months old), when Mommy and Daddy would drop me off, they noticed I was starting to hold them a bit tighter. Days went on, and my tight grip turned to tears. They then realized it wouldn't be fair to visit me at lunch any more. As much as they were going to miss our dates, now was not the time to be selfish.
This was the case for the next 2 1/2 months. So now, Mommy and Daddy go on dates during lunch, and occasionally stop by and watch me have fun with my friends though the windows. (The walls on my room are half glass so you can see in) Their favorite was when they caught me flirting with my new girlfriend, V. She was supposed to be sleeping in her crib, but I was walking along sticking my hand in between her bars. She'd then grab my hand and we'd start to laugh together! This went on for the 10 min. Mommy and Daddy were there!
Two weeks ago (11 months old), things once again took a turn. Mommy kissed me goodbye and passed me off to Daddy as she stepped out, but this time, I didn't cry. (They'd leave me one at a time so it wasn't so hard on me) As much as Mommy didn't want me to be sad, a part of her wanted to stick her head back in and say..."Hey, Eric...it's me Mommy...I'm leaving...aren't you sad". But she didn't. She just slightly cried on the inside, but knew it was better this way.
Little did she know, that was just the beginning. This week was different from all others. On Monday, Mommy and Daddy both gave me a kiss, walked out together, looked back, and I was off hiding between cribs playing peek-a-boo with V. and J. Then, on Tuesday, Mommy and Daddy gave me a kiss, walked out together, looked back, and I then proceeded to wave bye-bye to them. (That went directly to Mommy and Daddy's hearts!) And today, Mommy and Daddy opened the door, and I walked in my room for the first time all by myself, ran straight over to my friends, and started to play.
Little did Mommy and Daddy know that, with walking, came so much independence. They love that when I feel comfortable, I am the biggest social bug. I will ham it up to an entire room, as Mommy and Daddy sit back and watch with a huge smile on their face. However, they also love the fact that there are some situations where I'm not so comfortable, and I come running back to their, very open, arms!!!
