Over the summer Daddy took on some freelance work for the company ReelFX! He had so much fun being behind the computer again and bringing life to some pretty funny characters in the movie Free Birds!!!
Like all dedicated, hard working artists, he put in a lot of hours! So when he wrapped up his last shot at the end of July, we headed out for a night away as a family!
During breakfast, Eric and Sara thought it would be nice to start the day off with a toast! Hahaha!
On our way to check out the ground, they got to meet a couple of dogs their own size! Not only were these dogs huge and adorable, they just married! Yes, married! They had a ceremony and all! True story!
Daddy did such a good job picking such a gorgeous place for us to stay!
We were so excited to show the kids the slides they had there! Too bad they weren't tall enough for the one we were really excited to show them :( Oh well, reason to go back in a couple years!
Who needed the big slide anyway, these kids had a blast on their slide! This is where they spent the entire morning! Up and down, up and down, up and down!
Before heading over to our next adventure, Daddy convinced this Mommy to take a ride down the slide! Daddy did everything in his power to speed his ride up! Mommy did everything in her power to slow her ride down! It had been years since I've been down a slide like this! There were nerves, but I did it, and had a ton of fun while doing so!
Next stop...private beach!
We took a quick boat ride over to spend some time at a private beach Daddy heard about! The kids had a great time trying to catch fish and helped me find some really cool shells! A big storm cloud started to roll in, so we took our little party back to the hotel!
What's the best part about being on vacation...being LAZY!!! So why not do it in a lazy river!?!? Around and around we went, racing our tubes, spinning, and trying not to bump into people we didn't know!
Afterward we headed upstairs to dry off so we could head to dinner! But not before playing some hide and seek around the hotel! :)
Since we had so much fun being lazy before, why not do it again! This time, in a hammock! It was definitely a lot of work not to flip the thing, but I'm happy to report we managed not to! I could get used to relaxing in a hammock, especially since the kids loved to rock it!
We spent long enough being dry! Time to hop in the pool for some sunset swimming! Or shall I say, sunset flying through the air!
Thanks to some very friendly people, we had some impromptu S'mores as we walked by a fire they had going!
We took a stroll around the hotel while we waited for the firework show to start!
Once we heard the location of the firework show switched locations, we decided the best place to view them would be from the balcony of our room! And we were right! We were definitely up close and personal with these fireworks! It was a great experience! One that definitely ended with a bang, as in a grand finale bang!
These fireworks blasted and exploded, one, on top of the other, right in front of us! If it lasted any longer than it did, I was about it head inside and hide under the comforters! Hahaha!
ZOO DAY!
What a perfect little mini vacation spent together!
However, we weren't quite ready for it to be over! So we headed to the local zoo the next morning!
This was once of the coolest experience at a zoo! The people working there put on such entertaining shows and provided so much interesting information!
Don't be fooled by their cool color, they are extremely poisonous!
We usually don't go to the shows, but we are so glad we did! Such interesting stuff!
The craziest part of the day...
These alligators responded by name! We didn't know that was possible, but they sure proved it! He'd call a name, and that gator would step forward for it's feeding! It was crazy! As was the fact that he was standing so close to feed them!
The show was also very informative. One of the alligators had just 3 legs. When they jump form lake to lake, they get very territorial and often fight. Their blood is filled with a ton of antibiotics causing them to pretty much heal themselves without any infection. So much so, it's being researched for human medicine!
This is just another example of how smart nature is! Often times, a bird will build it's nests next to an alligator nest. It's a way of protecting their own nest since they know it's not too often an alligator let's any prey near it's babies!
The animals weren't the only cool part, the trees were as well!
And the kids thought the little playground was pretty cool too! :)
They weren't the only monkeys enjoying their playground!
Big cats...
and long necks...
walks through the trails...
and even bigger cats. The kids enjoyed them all!
Another interesting time...these guys looked as wild as could be! Pacing back and forth, back and forth. Then suddenly, a worker walked by and they suddenly turned into pets! They were crying like an exciting dog, and started to get territorial over who got to get closes to the worker! It was pretty amazing!
In Sara style, we couldn't leave the zoo without a snuggle and a kiss! Such a sweet sweet girl! Even to the skunks!
Such a great day! A fun filled way...
to end a perfect weekend away!
